10 Photos-03/11/22
While it is likely that some of these photos will not be used in this magazine, some are definitely going to be. Most, if not all, of these are background material.
1. This picture (below) is from the unedited perspective of a car to attempt to photograph a position of isolation. This could pair well with an article describing COVID’s effect on the weather by relating the isolation experienced then and (and possibly evoked here) to the actual material. This was taken at an intersection to obtain the lack of other vehicles, but no technique was used to obtain a clearer view of the skies.
2. However, this, like a few others, are visually more relevant to the topic of daily weather. This image was taken from a perspective facing upwards to avoid conflicting subjects and emphasize the beauty of an early morning sky.
3. This image was taken at a slight angle to show distance, with a denser focus in the foreground giving way to another appealing scene of clouds in the background, also contributing to depth.
4. This image was another attempt at depth, but due to the particularly windy conditions at the time, I decided to record trees as a common emphasizer of wind with a similar perspective effect. Most images were taken facing upward, with this image likely suffering from a lack of a more interesting upward-facing stance due to the existence of the power lines/pole in the way of the trees.
5. This image was modified, and taken from a car's side mirror initially to capture a sunrise piercing through clouds, but due to its blurry state, was re-purposed deliberately for a space weather article to depict the sun as it might appear in space.
6. This was a panorama of a storm approaching, attempting to show grandeur and the ominous sky by recording its multiple waves of darker clouds.
7. This image and its neighbor below it might provide a suitable background for an article about the blander side of spring/weather in general, with this image attempting to capture the sun behind the spotty cloud cover while the movement and angle of trees in the image depict diagonal motion.
8. This image was meant to show the sun as the focus of the image as well, but without other objects drawing attention. This takes a more blunt approach to the perspective of the sun, as the camera was facing directly upwards to capture this possibly striking image.
9. This was another attempt to convey wind's presence by perspective, with the subject tilted in front of moving leaves to its left to emphasize significant apparent motion, and might also assist in the descriptive depiction of a stereotypical venue for tropical storms' presence.
10. This photo was taken to express a personal, but common, support of Ukraine in war, as the sky is nearly half blue and yellow in a perceived symbolic representation of its flag. Besides that significance, it also shows a striking blend from the sunrise to the normal blue sky of day, with clouds decreasing in density as the sky becomes bluer captured in a panorama to show the contrast, and cropped to show subtle evidence of humanity without causing diversion from the image's main focus.
